簡介：保羅·萊尼拍攝于1924年的《蠟人館》被普遍認為是表現主義的最后一部作品。這部作品采用了與《疲倦的死神》相類似的敘事結構，講述一個蠟人館的老板請來一位作家為自己的蠟像人物編故事。作家編寫了三個故事：哈里發的故事、伊凡雷帝的故事和“恐怖杰克”的故事。其中第一個幾乎完全脫胎于《疲倦的死神》，第二個則是有關俄羅斯歷史上的暴君，第三個更是詭異離奇，基本上是英國近代史上兩個殺人狂魔“彈簧腿杰克”和“開膛手杰克”的結合體，這兩個杰克都是歷史上的懸案，傳說他們是地獄的使者，在人世間嗜血如命、殺人如麻。在影片的最后，連作家本人也被杰克追殺。我想，現在那些有關連環殺人犯的恐怖電影，其源頭恐怕得追溯到這里。
