簡介：《悲傷秘密的搖籃曲》講的是19世紀末，菲律賓被西班牙統治時期的事。革命領袖的遺孀在叢林中尋找他的尸體。與此同時，革命者、統治者、詩人等等輪番上場，從不同的角度反映戰爭的殘酷，以及每個人內心的掙扎和愧疚。電影沒有直接反映戰場的血腥和猙獰，主要用長鏡頭拍攝人物對話，以此展開劇情。正因為畫面幾乎靜止，人物喋喋不休，整體難免沉悶和枯燥。高對比度的黑白畫面在大銀幕上看顯得很莊嚴，光影效果突出，同時叢林中的自然聲音都得到保留，背景中的風聲、雨聲襯著深色的樹葉與白色的煙霧格外詩意。影片中還有幾段優美的吉他彈唱，也是漫長枯燥的觀影過程中難得的調劑。
